Scott discovered that the love of his life was only in his imagination or at least not a reciprocal one. Heartbroken and devestated, when he finally recovers, he finds himself now alone with Charlotte. As part of a threesome, Charlotte was fine; but now Scott finds her to be a bit too much, too needy, too there! On the other hand, Charlotte covered for him when he was too depressed to go into work, so he knows he "owes" her. Nonetheless, when someone attractive walks into the restaurant where he waits tables and starts flirthing with him, he decides it's time to move on.

Although this happens in October, the first chapter of the book occurs in the following April when Scott has a session with "Dr. Amy." If you've read either Robbing the Cradle or Charlotte Finds a Soul Mate (or both; wouldn't that be great...for me!), you'll already be familiar with "Dr. Amy", although all three books are stand-alone stories. However, the fact that he's seeing her might suggest that his "moving on" didn't go too well! As Scott waits for a call from "Dr. Amy" to determine whether seeing him may constitute a conflict of interest, various events at the restaruant where he works remind him of disastrous potential loves over the months between October and April that he really needs to discuss with her, each one providing us with a book chapter! But if you like true love, happy endings, and horses, this book is (hopefully) for you.
